Everything You Need to Know About Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight

 Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight will be a prime feature of an upcoming expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor will portray the iconic comic superhero in a series that will arrive on Disney+ in the next couple of years. Isaac’s portrayal will be the first time that the comic character will appear on the screen. It will unlock the door for a new obscure world to make space for itself in an unimaginably vast Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After years of struggle, Marvel does finally have a clear-cut plan for the white caped superhero. To the much delight of fans, they have also signed “Dune” star Oscar Isaac to portray Marc Spector, who has a multiple personality disorder.

The medical term for Marc Spector’s problem is dissociative identity disorder, which makes him live a life of multiple personalities.

Fans had commenced their marathon of speculation ever since the Moon Knight’s announcement, which came at D23 last year.  Marvel fans are pumped up for the series because they now finally have an onscreen answer to DC’s Batman (a gripping dark human superhero which many believe Marvel lacks in its franchise). Up until Oscar Isaac’s arrival, fans anticipated a newcomer; however, there aren’t many who seem to have any problem with Oscar Isaac’s recruitment. The actor has experience of working in films like X-Men, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Star Wars, and Dune, and that makes fans satisfied because they now believe that he knows what it takes to star in a big-budgeted action series.

Fans of Oscar Isaac also have a reason to keep an eye on Moon Knight because Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Marvel has an ambitious plan for Moon Knight. The character will be given an important role in the forthcoming MCU projects.

The first appearance of Moon Knight came in 1975 in the comic titled “Werewolf by Night” No. 32. The origins of Moon Knight can be traced back to the time when the former boxer turned mercenary Marc Spector gets betrayed by his colleague Raoul Bushman who leaves him on the face of imminent death at an excavation site in Egypt. It would have been the end of Marc Spector at that very moment if it wasn’t for the moon god Khonshu to save him and reincarnate him as an avatar of himself. Marc Spector returns to the city as a masked vigilante Moon Knight and starts to live through several fake identities. However, the bone-chilling part about Spector gets revealed later when we know that the identities that we thought he was faking were very real. Marc Spector is a man that suffers from a dissociative identity disorder, and each personality he lives has separate characteristics, egos, and motives.

In 2014, Warren Ellis’s run took this aspect a step further when he introduced two identities of the Moon Knight identities. The original Moon Knight kept all the supernatural entities at bay, and a Batman-like character called Mr. Knight (in a white suit) fought off average criminals on the streets and helped cops in keeping the city safe.

Isaac would establish his legacy with Moon Knight and has all the capabilities to do so. If you take out his early roles in films like “Robin Hood” and “Sucker Punch,” he has done some wonderful job in the last decade or so. His noteworthy roles include a smart but morally corrupt scientist in “Ex-Machina,” Poe Dameron in “Star Wars,” a hired gun in “Triple Frontier,” and a mentally troubled artist in “Inside Llewyn Davis.”

Oscar Isaac will also be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming science-fiction tentpole, “Dune.”
