Most Affordable and Powerful Google Nest Audio Speakers
The fall season is the time for most of the hardware companies to launch their gadgets and feature updates. This Monday, i.e., 5th October, Google came up with a better, reinvented, renamed, and redesigned smart speaker, which will be known as Nest Audio. This is the better and mini version of the Google Home that looked more like a diffuser.

The Nest Audio looks like a tiny and modernized version of Google’s traditional speakers. It is available in multiple color options, like pink, blue, green, white, and black. It costs $99.99, which is less than the original Home speakers. The best upgrade is in its sound section. This speaker is being sold as a personal assistant that can smoothly run your smart home, answer trivia questions, set reminders, fetch news updates, translate languages, and more. Despite all the capabilities, it still lacks to match up to the level and upgrades of its rival speaker, Amazon Echo. It might fail to recognize some commands and fulfill basic tasks like reading your email, messages, replying to texts, etc.
But it has some merits as well. We mentioned the sound and audio upgrade in the speaker, earlier in this article. This $99 speaker has a sleek and slightly large designed body. You might even be surprised to hear the audio quality coming out of such a tiny body. It sounds almost like Google’s most expensive Sonos. Experts would always look up to Sonos for its sound quality, and now, the Nest Audio is going to set a new benchmark.
If you choose to purchase two Nest Audio smart speakers and pair them together, then you will get an incredible and unmatchable sound quality. The sound production from both the speakers will light up your house, and the sound quality will be something you have never experienced before. Since this speaker has a stellar bass, treble, and volume, you can hear every beat of different instruments and vocals perfectly. Users will feel like sitting in a professional music studio for listening to your favorite songs.
Google claims to provide an ultimate listening experience with this speaker. For the price of $100, it is the best audio you can get. Along with getting audio, you can put the Google Assistant to work. But, as we mentioned earlier, you might have to undergo some troubles to get your commands registered in the speaker as it lacks the Alexa-like intelligence. However, you can fix this issue by changing the permissions of the voice assistant using the Google Assistant smartphone app. Please do not confuse it with the Google Home app.
After opening the Google Assistant smartphone app:
- Click on your circular profile picture at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Click on ‘Devices’ and select the device you want to change, i.e., Nest Audio.
- Select ‘Personal Results.’ The voice assistant will now understand your commands better.
You can stream music from various online music streaming platforms. Unfortunately, Amazon Music or Apple Music users are out of luck and have to shift to another supported music streaming platform. You can start your private party, listening to songs from YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora.
If this is your first time purchasing a speaker, make sure that you know how to react around the Google Nest Audio as it can hear and record everything you say, or do around it. Although, Google ensures that it listens and records you only when you use the wake words, “Hey Google,” or “OK Google,” its promotional website reminds users that you can delete its history by saying, “Hey Google, delete what I just said.” Google speakers also keep records of the queries of the last 18 months and beyond. It can also pick up some snippets of your conversations without alerting and asking you. But, fortunately, Google reminds you to delete your recordings, conversations, queries, etc. manually, or automatically after every three or 18 months.
Every product has its fair share of pros and cons. Now, it is up to you to determine if this is the right speaker for you or not.
