The Most Terrifying Villains in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is a show about superheroes born with unique powers who fight villains to keep the ordinary people safe. Well, that’s the story of probably every other superhero movie, anime, TVshow, manga etc. So, what makes My Hero Academia unique? Most superhero stories have villains, but none of them is as diverse and terrifying as the ones on My Hero Academia. It is this variety in villains with a strong storyline behind each of them that makes the viewers stick to the show. It is almost impossible to match the perfection with which My Hero Academia creates a backstory for every villain that makes the fans sympathize with them. Only Naruto has been the other anime that has such a strong storyline behind each of its villains that even the fans feel sorry for them.

A good backstory is essential but what is equally necessary is the appearance of the villains. My Hero Academia introduces us with villains who have been tortured in the past. It does not shy away from showing the scars that they carry to this day, which makes their backstory much more realistic and relatable. But it does one more thing; it makes them extremely frightening. The anime has one of the scariest villains even though it is targeted at younger teenagers. Each of them is sadistic, ruthless with unique Quirks that makes them even more terrifying. So, let’s have a look at some of them to see what makes them so unique.

All For One

All for One is the antagonist of My Hero Academia, who fought many battles with past inheritors of One for All. All Might was able to defeat him a few times. When he was first introduced on the show, we didn’t get to see his face as he was wearing a mask. But when he fights All Might, we finally get to see him after his mask is opened. His face is extremely creepy since he no longer has eyes, nose, ears or hair. In one of the past battles with All Might, he got permanent scars which made him look this way.

 Tomura Shigaraki

Tomura is the successor of All for One; surprisingly, it was also revealed that he is the grandson of Nana Shimura, the seventh user of One for All. However, All for One was able to take him under his wings and manipulate him into believing that it was the heroes who were the real problem. Tomura grew up to hate them and wanted a world that no longer had any heroes. His appearance was just as scary as his ambitions. There are embalmed hands all over his body which were taken from his past victims. The wrinkles around his eyes and the wicked smile make him one of the scariest characters on the show.

 Moonfish

Now, Moonfish may not be a strong villain; infact one can make the case that he is even the weakest member of the league of villains. But it is hard to deny how creepy he looks. He has a weird quirk which allows him to use each of his teeth as blades. He always wears a black straightjacket which only leaves his mouth exposed, allowing him to use his Quirk as per his wish. When blades protrude out of his mouth, he looks like a ghost from a horror movie. There is no doubt that he is one of the creepiest villains on My Hero Academia.

 Dabi

Dabi may not be able to defeat all the characters on the show, but he is scary enough to give children nightmares. The stitches around his mouth and under his eyes make it seem like his face will fall apart. However, his affrighting smile does go well with the stitches making his character stand out. Dabi has a powerful Quirk, but his appearance too is an essential element in his characterization as a villain. He is one of the villains to look out for, with his powers and spooky face, he is an excellent candidate to be the future leader of the villains.

U.S.J Nomu

We are introduced to several kinds of Nomus throughout four seasons of My Hero Academia. All of them can make the claim that they are as creepy as any other. But the first one still stands out as the most frightening. It was able to give All Might a tough time, and with just a little bit of luck, it might have been able to kill him as well. Even though he was once just a thug but with multiple DNA injections and biological manipulations, he was turned into a scary monster that could give nightmares to even adults. His sharp teeth with an exposed brain made it seem that he was going to eat a hero any minute. Even though it was not able to speak its beak-shaped mouth with large and sharp teeth made it irrelevant. The fact that Nomu was just a pawn used by villains made little difference to the fact that it was incredibly creepy.
